Season 2 Of Ash vs Evil Dead Teases New Villian
Earlier this week, we brought you the news that Ash vs Evil Dead’s highly awaited second season was set to debut on Starz on Sunday, October 2nd at 8pm. Now, Starz has published a new image that reveals the big bad villain for season 2.
Baal, season 2’s new villain is played by Joel Tobeck, who I know from Xena:Warrior Princess and Sons of Anarchy. Baal is released from the underworld briefly after Ruby’s confused actions with the Necronmicon at the end of the finale in season 1. I’m guessing he isn’t exactly all peaches and cream, instead, he aims to reign, terror, as he fucks up the Earth. He is going do whatever he pleases, with or without Ruby’s help.
We Couldn’t Be More Excited For Season 2
The trailers for season 2 have feature Ruby coming to Ash for help. It seems safe to say that not even she wants to operate with Baal. The pic below is probably a good indication of that.
So it is only fair that we mention some history behind the name Baal. You may or may not know, that in the Bible, Baal was a Canaanite deity, and a nemesis to Yahweh, the God of the Hebrews. We really don’t know just yet if there is any sort of biblical connection. However, we are talking about a story based on a book made to channel demons from the gates of Hell. It could also, just be a coincidence or something that seemed to fit the storyline. Who knows. Ash has quite the experience dealing with Deadites, but dealing with a deity could be a game changer. Throw in Ruby and the power of the Necronomicon it could go any direction, both good and bad.
