CameraNinja’s thoughts on Madchild’s Silver Tongue Devil

madchild_cover     What’s up fam!! Tonight, we are gonna talk about Madchild’s new album, Silver Tongue Devil. For those who don’t know Madchild….  He was born in Vancouver, Canada on October 21st, 1975. When he was 20, he moved to San Francisco but moved back home in the mid 90’s. Madchild is part of a group called Swollen Members on the re-launched Battle Axe Records. He released a solo EP entitled The Madchild EP in 2009. In 2012 he released his first album, titled Dope Sick along with another in 2013 titled Lawn Mower Man. Silver Tongue Devil will be Madchild’s third album release.

So! Let’s get to it. In case you missed it above and are too lazy to look now, the album is titled, Silver Tongue Devil. He took an entire year to write this album. That’s the same amount of time it took to write Dope Sick and Madchild says it’s his best yet! I love it. The album was released on Friday, July 24th 2015 and you could get it through iTunes  or iTunes Canada.

There were a few music videos released for the album so I thought we would talk about those songs. I like to have full class participation, which means, everyone has to have the study material. For those who couldn’t buy the album, you can hear the song through the video 🙂 Ok… Let’s get started!!

First song is called Everytime featuring Ceekay Jones. It starts out with a nice melody and guitar. The beat is pretty chill and it goes well with his flow. To me, it sounds like he is talking about the difficulty of addiction and getting through it. The entire song is amazing. I wish this song were around when I was having trouble. Here is the video…

The next song we are going to look at is called Devils and Angels. It is produced by Evidence of Dilated Peoples. The beat starts off with an awesome piano riff on a drum beat that instantly got my head bobbing. This song seems to be the struggle between the bad and good within. Got a video for this one too…

The final song we are going to check out is called Slayer featuring Demrick. This track is produced by C-Lance. He has produced for Vinnie Paz, ILL BILL, Jedi Mind Tricks.. just to name a few… Ok so the track starts off like an old horror flick. Almost seems Halloween (the movie, not the holiday) inspired. An ominous piano riff, a simple drum line that compliments the piano perfectly. This song is about being willing to die for what you believe in. Stay strong and take care of yours. Of course… the video..

Overall… I think this album is super fresh. The beats hit nicely in your head and make you want to bob to it. I could definitely see myself playing this while driving. I think this album would actually help me not kill someone for being a stupid driver. haha. Seriously. Every song has a meaning. His flows are smooth. I love his voice. I have a thing for voices though.. like Blaze and Stevie Stone… anyway.. rant.. I say go out and get this album. You will not regret it.
