CBS recently joined the multi-network party of television networks broadcasting DC Comics programming. The CW airs Flash, Arrow, and iZombie. NBC aired Constantine. Fox began a Batman prequel series of Gotham last year. CBS is joining the fray with Supergirl. If you go off of trailer views(can’t go off of ratings yet as Supergirl has yet to air), Gotham has 10.5 million views of its original trailer, and the much newer trailer for Supergirl has 14 million views already.
During a recent press tour CBS executive Nina Tassler spoke about the decision to add DC Comics to their programming.
“Well, I think that they’re different audiences,” said Tassler. “I think Supergirl has a much bigger, broader audience. It’s more family entertainment. And they look different, they feel different.”
Tassler added, “We had 14.1 million streams of the [Supergirl] trailer. I don’t think anyone is worried about, ‘Oh my god, there’s not enough audience out there to watch both those shows.’ I think there will be.”
