Guns N Roses Not in this Lifetime Tour & Review

Hello True Juggalo Family!

I got so nervous on April 8th, 2016, when the press released that Axl Rose had broke his left foot with an internal fixation- added plates and screws into his foot. Naturally, Axl could have easily stopped the tour to heal and rest up. I know some of us rock fans quickly thought, “Axl! Get Dave Grohl’s throne!” That would be the easiest way to not have to cancel on millions of fans who already had purchased their tickets. Last year, Dave broke his leg after falling off the stage during a show.  With no hesitation, Dave Grohl heard the news and sent over his throne that was built for himself while on tour to lend over to Axl. Dave Grohl, you saved the day! Axl’s injury:

On April 9, 2016 I headed out to the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada to catch a sold out Guns N Roses reunion tour in action. The last time I had seen the original band was at San Diego Sports Arena, January 9, 1992! Yep, I was 9 years old! I saw them the year after that at the Jack Murphy Stadium, September 30th, 1992, which was the most memorable show due to the banner that caught on fire! Speaking on behalf of myself, I could not wait to see them again and with Duff and Slash back, it’s been 24 years!

Alice in Chains opened the show and literally melted everyone’s faces! They played all of the hits and brought back so many memories for me! I was so impressed by William DuVall. His vocals are incredible and the closest to the original singer, Layne Staley. And side note, this new T-Mobile Arena is LOUD! The sound at this venue is impeccable! I believe Alice in Chains are only on this tour for the Vegas dates only.

Axl throne

At 11:15pm, Guns N Roses hit the stage! Axl is wheeled out on Dave Grohl’s throne! You could tell Axl really wanted to move around on stage with the boys, but you could also see that he enjoyed being catered by the sexy nurse as well as his band mates and crew. Even sitting in the throne, Axl was able to dance and hit every high note with ease. During the song ‘My Michelle’, Sebastian Bach ran out to sing along with Guns N Roses surprising everyone in the audience. Axl and Sebastian have performed together before as they are good friends. Now if we can only convince Sebastian on a Skid Row reunion tour! Guns N Roses played until 1:42am, just shy of three hours! You certainly get your money’s worth as well as a extra few calories burned from dancing the night away!

And oh yes, my side rant now.

So many people were so mad that only 3/5 original members were back for this reunion tour. Ok, so if you’re keeping track, that’s Axl, Slash and Duff. But where’s Izzy?! Why is Steven Adler gone or Matt Sorum not the drummer?! OMFG people! Steven was fired back in 1990 from drug addiction. Axl fired Matt Sorum in 1997 after an argument between the two. Past is the past guys, but the sound is still the same! I can’t even begin to tell you what a great fit Frank Ferrer is to Guns N Roses! Frank is most known for his time with the band The Psychedelic Furs. And for those that don’t know he looks like this:

Frank Ferrer

But give the man a break, he’s been in Guns N Roses since 2006, 10 years! And give it up to Richard Fortus for 15 years strong as the rhythm/shared lead guitarist! It’s great to see Duff and Slash back with Axl. To better put this in prospective, it’s been 20 years since Slash was with Guns N Roses. He’s only put in 12 years! And Duff played 13 years in total with GNR! The only difference is it took two guitarists to do the work of one Slash! But regardless, they are the same sounding, heart-pounding, amazing legendary band we’ve always loved but with a few different faces then we had back in 1985. Each member who has been a part of Guns N Roses certainly brought on the best talent and added their individual flare to the band.  I can tell you over 10+ bands that have changed over time and nobody even cared to mention the change in band member line up. Relax people, get off your ass and go enjoy LIVE music!
