Hair-Raising Horror Themed Slot Machines

Hair-Raising Horror Themed Slot Machines

Game makers are always on the lookout for themes to slap on their products, and slot machine manufacturers are no different. Among the more popular is one genre that anyone in the Juggaloverse has, at the very least, some kind of affinity for: horror. Here are a few slot machines that’ll raise the hairs on the back of your neck — and not just when you realize you’ve pumped way too much money into ‘em!

The Walking Dead

Love ‘em or hate ‘em, the slow zombies — and the equally slow-moving story — in The Walking Dead has turned the comic book and TV show one of the biggest pop culture phenomena in recent years. It’s no surprise, then, that Aristocrat Technologies has jumped on the bandwagon with a themed slot machine featuring the show’s trappings. Too bad there’s no crossbow or katana included.

Nightmare on Elm Street

Yup, Freddy Krueger has moved from terrorizing people in the dreamscape and onto dazzling them with the idea of big jackpot payoffs. Well okay, not really, because the ambient music used in this game is as nightmarishly ominous and atmospheric as they come. Give it a listen below.

Boogie Monsters

Playtech, the company behind such innocuous games as the Six Million Dollar Man slot machine, has also entered the horror-themed gaming arena, albeit with a much more cutesy approach. Games like Under the Bed, Witches Wealth, and Boogie Monsters all sport a more cartoony take on things that go bump in the night. The stylized pop art used in Boogie Monsters’ horror-music combo theme is particularly noteworthy.

Universal Monsters

Ah, the classics. NetEnt has released games featuring at least one iconic monster from Universal’s stable of classic creature features over the past six years. Frankenstein, the Creature from the Black Lagoon, the Invisible Man, and Dracula — almost the whole lot of them is represented, except for the Wolfman. Poor guy gets no respect, although Betfair’s Full Moon Fortunes slot does at least give him (or one of his werewolf kin) a degree of visibility.
