Juggalo Gong Show 17…Beer, Chicken Suits, And More
This year’s Juggalo Gong Show at Gathering 17 left little to the imagination. In other words, the majority of talent displayed couldn’t actually be considered talent. While this may sound harsh, I wouldn’t be saying it if one of the more amusing acts wasn’t a juggalo getting booted after reading some poetry, then mercilessly roasted for it by the judges and crowd alike. In fact, he even got beat off the stage by a man in a chicken suit wielding a foam sword.
Poor guy. Anyway, while I was hoping for different acts than what was presented, the show was still a lot of fun to watch.
One of the next juggalos to step up wore a cape, and while you might expect that a cape would lead to some real talent, this ninja certainly proved otherwise. The reason he showed up on the stage? To drink a can of beer. You read that correctly; only to drink a can of beer. I couldn’t help but agree when someone from the crowd shouted “That was only fun for you!”
Despite the other less than interesting acts displayed, however, there were a couple juggalos who actually have talent to present. For example, one guitar playing ninja certainly gained favor from the crowd and the judges. Even J-Webb– who hosted the event- got down with this juggalo and in turn gave him a stamp of approval.
In the end, the juggalo rockstar in training earned the highest points possible from the three judges. So although the contestants at this year’s Juggalo Gong Show were for the most part less than satisfactory, it was still a great time and I really enjoyed being a part of it.
