Fighting Legend Kimbo Slice Suddenly Dead at 42

TMZ broke the news that Kimbo Slice was hospitalized for unknown causes yesterday and passed away shortly after. He was only 42 and had no publicly know health issues. It is still unknown what caused his death though no foul play is suspected as reported by Yahoo Sports who spoke with local Flordia police. The CEO of Bellator MMA confirmed that Kimbo Slice, whose real name was Kevin Ferguson, was dead saying,

“We are all shocked and saddened by the devastating untimely loss of Kimbo Slice, a beloved member of the Bellator family.’

“One of the most popular MMA fighters ever, Kimbo was a charismatic, larger-than-life personality that transcended the sport.”

“Outside of the cage he was a friendly, gentle giant and a devoted family man. HIs loss leaves us all with extremely heavy hearts, and our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Ferguson family and all of Kimbo’s friends, fans and teammates.”

Kimbo’s last fight was back in Februray at Bellator 149 where he defeated Dada 5000. The match was later overturned when Kimbo tested positive for banned steriods. He was scheduled for another match later this July.

Kimbo entered the MMA and pro fighting world through his popular street fighting Youtube videos. He started out with Elite XC where he drew huge ratings. Then he signed with UFC to fight in season 10 of The Ultimate Fighter. He didn’t do so well in the UFC being defeated in the first round. He later redeemed him self on the finale defeating Houston Alexander. His was currently under contract with Bellator. His MMA record was 5-2-1. He also fought in some pro boxing matches. His record being 7-0 with six knowck outs.

Kimbo also did some acting. He played Zulu Kondo in The Scorpion King 3: Battle for Redemption.
