David Bowie, the legendary singer-songwriter and actor, has died after a long battle with cancer. He was 69.
Mr. Bowie was one of the most unique and original voices in the music and rock & roll worlds for the past 5 decades (nearly). He was a character that immersed himself in a world of mystery, subversion and a curious nature. This legend and one of my heroes in life wore many faces to society. The world saw him as an objective rocked out spaceman, a sexually free glam-rock Ziggy Stardust, the ever stylish Thin White Duke, euphoric embracing rock star. To me however, he will always be known and cherished as the Goblin King.
He had a plethora of chart topping hits such as “Changes“, “The Man Who Sold The World“, “Under Pressure“, “ China Girl“, and more recently “Lazarus“. Bowie was an inspiration to a lot musicians throughout the world including Annie Lennox, Nine Inch Nails, Nirvana, Joan Jett, Duran Duran, Smashing Pumpkins, Marilyn Manson, Oasis, Ozzy Osbourne, Morrissey, Beck, and Bauhaus.
Bowie’s son, Duncan, tweeted a photo of his father holding him early Monday morning and wrote, “Very sorry and sad to say it’s true.”
