If you’ve ever been to a show at St. Andrews Hall, then at the very least you’ve seen his bar as it sits next to St. Andrews Hall. Many juggalos, myself included have had a pre show drink in his bar. Steve Francis owner of Steve’s bar has passed away at the age of 90. For many years Steve and his wife Sophie(91 years old) have ran the bar 7 days a week 364 days a year, only closing for Christmas. Equally friendly to anybody who walked into the bar, Steve’s bar became a popular preshow spot for Juggalos due to it’s close proximity to St. Andrews Hall. He was born in Oregon in 1924 but raised in Greece by his family. He fought in WWII against the German Occupation and settled in Detroit in the 1960’s and worked in Detroit restaurants saving a little bit of money until he could open his own place. The one time I made a trip to Detroit I spoke with Steve for a few minutes. He loved us Juggalos. Had nothing but good things to say. Sleep well sir, we will see you in Shangri-La
