Remembering Kurt Cobain- 22 years ago

It seems like yesterday, but on this day, April 5, 1994, the world lost Kurt Cobain 22 years ago.

Kurt Cobain  was born on February 20, 1967, and most known for his lead singing and bringing grunge music with the band Nirvana.

On April 4, 1994, Kurt was only 27 years old when he committed suicide and died of self-infliction, a shot to his head. He was found dead by his family inside his home in Seattle, 4 days later on April 8th, 1994.

His death has recently resurfaced in the news, as new pictures of his injuries have been released.

Do you remember where you were when you heard the news? I remember just getting home from middle school and turning on MTV and catching Kurt Loder talking about this incident. Hearing about his passing was devastating and still to this day, I remember making up dance routines to almost every song on Nevermind by Nirvana with my friends at sleepovers. We would always play air guitar and drums and pretend we were Nirvana live on stage. We certainly will never forget Kurt and his impact in music history. All the members of Nirvana were inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014. Great to see Nirvana’s drummer, Dave Grohl, still inspiring music and producing great songs with his band Foo Fighters. And Nirvana co-creator, Krist Novoselic is still jumping in on music projects as well as involvement in political activism.

If you are suffering from depression or drug abuse and would like help, please don’t hesitate to reach out to a friend, family member or even a suicide prevention organization-1-800-273-8255 .
